Light and Smoke

I wake earlier these morning. It's dark at 4am; and the quiet I have always loved to write in seems very noisy.

I move to my kitchen and light a stick of Santo Palo.

As I use my breath to fuel the reddened embers and note the steady stream of fluid smoke lifting.... I take a turn about my house and name what I so fortunate to have.

'Couch = rest.....'

'Fridge = nourishment....'

'Balcony = access .... to the outdoors...'

when i come to my bed I note a creeping desire .

'Bed = passion.... touch..... sex.....'

this not the actual state of things at this time for me as a single  woman. But i let the smoke tussle with the folds of my sheets.It is good to think on 'one day'. I am not defeatist. I believe in future.

Juggling an epic amount of things, my brain is currently in 1 million billion pieces. Being a single mama with no family here is a real deal, managing the shop, books and my mental health are a-lot of balls to keep in the air. So can’t wait for us to get this madness under control and manageable. In the meantime I’m day-dreaming and night-dreaming of taking naps with Scout and eating picnic meals down by Merri cheek and having zoom dinner parties with people I’ve never met before.

STRUCTURE AND ROUTINE

Without I fall apart. As in, anxiety attack and tears fall apart. Our family needs it, from snack times and lunch to the same bath and bedtime routines. Whilst homeschooling I've tried to keep the routine as close to school as possible (detention anyone?!) as Gus (Sarah's son) thrives on no surprises.

Going back in to Lockdown.

Going back in to Lockdown.

By Hadassah Jordan

Once again, my Victoria is going into lockdown for 7 days and whilst some of us are entering a holiday, some of us have PTSD, so be super mindful of those around you at this point in time.

I have been ringing around to all my pals and family to check that they are ok.

For my daughter Frankie, last year was traumatic to her development.

It sparked, depression and all that goes along with that.

It has been hard on so many and we can not underestimate the value of our Mental Health Services.

This is an area that is not easy to navigate but a few things that I learnt on this journey, I would love to share as it helped beyond measure.
